Event: Armed Forces Day Parade
Date\Time: 5/19/2018 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Armed Forces Day Celebration logo from City of Torrance WebsiteThis year marks the 59th year that Torrance has hosted a parade for Armed Forces Day.  The parade route runs on Torrance Blvd. between Crenshaw and Madrona.  All participating Scouts will meet at 12PM in the Torrance Courthouse parking lot to be shuttled to the Parade start.  Only uniformed leaders will be allowed to ride the shuttle.

Pickup after the parade will be at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center.  Please make sure to put your cell phone number in your Scout’s pocket, so that we can reach you after the parade has completed.

If you are unable to march, feel free to set up on the parade route and watch as we go by.  We will be in Parade Unit 12.

Event: Awards Night
Date\Time: 5/23/2018 7:00 PM
Location: Victor Elementary School

It’s time to recognize all of the hard work our Scouts have done this year. Rank Badges will be presented to every Scout who has earned them.

We will also be awarding prizes to the top Car Wash sellers for this year’s Car Wash.  You can also make your final payments for Summer Camp.

Event: Flags on Graves
Date\Time: 5/26/18, 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275

This is a Scout focused event. Several groups of Scouts from all levels will be there to place anywhere between 7000 to 8000 flags on the graves of veterans.  Since the ground can be hard, it is handy to bring along a Phillips screwdriver to create a hole before placing the flag.  Refreshments will be provided for Scouts and Scout Leaders only by Green Hills after the flags have been placed.

This is a place of respect so please no running or playing around during the event.  Scouts must be in the Class “A” uniform without the cap.  The park can be windy and the caps have a tendency to be blown off.  We also recommend that all non-Scout siblings be left at home for this event.

Event: Graduation Celebration
Date\Time: 6/9/18, 11AM to 3PM
Location: Columbia Park

Time for annual celebration of the end of the school year.  This will be a potluck event with fun and games.  Additional information about the potluck will be provided in the next couple of weeks.

This event makes the advancement of each Scout level to the next one.  The day will end with a ceremony for each level where we remove their current level insignia (neckerchief, slide and cap) and they are presented with the insignia for their new level.

If you don’t make any other event during the year, plan to be here.
